We had a beautiful stay and whale swims with Kiko, his wife and his fanau. We had flight disruptions so hadn't even planned to be on 'Eua. However getting in touch at 8am by end of day we were on the island and they arranged a private boat ride, acocommodation for a week and 3 x whale swims for our family of 4. The accomodation/homestay is basic but it has all we needed, the food was tasty and prepared with love, the whale swims were AMAZING!! the main reason we visited - their knowledge and experience was so valuable, we had beautiful interactions. We also had so many laughs over our weeks stay. We also did a fishing trip which my teenage son loved and a day trip round the island - Fanua and his siblings were awesome hosts and guides! 'Eua is a simple, laid back island and it was a honor to share time and space with Kiko's fanau, the local commnity and connect to the land and the whales on our visit..

Overpriced and dissatisfying for the standard of accommodation, service and Tours they currently offer. Did not meet my very high expectations raised by other reviews, that's why I would like to share another perspective so you could adjust your expectations a little bit and maybe also your decision about the length of your stay. The owner's are friendly (their kids not in the same quantity), but that does not at all justify their high prices for this poor quality in my opinion. I decided to leave after 2 nights although initially wanted to stay a whole week, because there was no possibility to get enough rest or sleep due to constant noises, lights and temperature. The very basic rooms are directly in front of the restaurant and billard area. We were asked every morning, if we would like to attend dinner and we said yes and were told every evening, that they are sorry there will be no dinner at around dinner time. We were lucky, that we brought some food as the 2 shops close early on this island. No fan is provided in the bedrooms although there are easily temperatures above 25 degrees Celcius and of course higher inside. The family wakes up at around 3 am at night, other tourists easily stay up at 11 pm. The outside toilets have not been cleaned during my stay and the female toilet was covered with poo already at my arrival. The outside shower was cold. They use rain water from a tank for the bathroom facilities as well as for the coffee area. Communication was really exhausting and often inaccurate, sometimes did not happen at all. As for example we had to ask other guests how they organize their whale swim tour as not a single member of the family told us when we meet, what we need and how long it will last. We were told 10 minutes prior to 7 am, that we will leave at 7 and breakfast is already served and no equipment was given yet. Turns out the breakfast was not ready. The equipment for snorkeling is not in great condition and they didn't have fins for female size 37 at all, but the guide expected me to swim behind him and all other 3 of our group who had fins in open deep blue water. Because there is no active communication I was often irritated about the guides behavior especially during the whale swim tour. The skipper almost jelled at him and another client from our group asked 3 times, if we can get in the water now, because the wales have been close, but the guide himself was not ready. We have seen whales from the boat, but we didn't see them during snorkeling. We have had the chance 3 times for snorkeling with them, but we have just not been close or fast and lucky enough. We as their paying clients from their whale swim tour often spotted the whales and not the guide or skipper. You can't trust the family's information about the ferry back to the main island, so I made sure to ask at the Harbour or Gas Station for the ferry time as the two different companys operate from these 2 places, but won't tell you about the other company existing and having other ferries. You can either buy the ferry tickets in the morning close to the ferry or at the Harbour or Gas Station in advance. We were picked up from the harbor to the accommodation and brought back to the ferry. All in all, I thought supporting the locals would be a good idea. But it was just not worth my money and I would not choose their offer again, even if I had to pay more with other companys that offer whale swim tours. Sorry!

Could not recommend more. Kiko's is the only operator that issues refunds if you don't see a whale, which means they are committed to helping you have an unforgettable experience. We went swimming with Kiko for 4 days and saw at least 5 whales while in the water each day, including an unforgettable experience of being in the water while a baby breached.
